Reliable choice for years

This was my third time renewing with G Data, and it was for the Antivirus for Mac. I've been with them for a while now, probably 4-5 years, mostly because they're consistent. This time, I just clicked the renewal link from my email and the discount for returning customers was applied automatically, which is a nice touch instead of hunting for codes. The download process was familiar and quick, just like before. I had a small question about transferring the license to a new Mac, and their support got back to me within a day with clear instructions. It's not flashy, but it always works in the background, catches what it needs to, and doesn't slow down my system. I tried Avira once before G Data and wasn't as happy with its performance, so I stuck with this.

Solid protection for my devices

I picked up the Total Security package for my laptop and phone, you know, because my old antivirus was expiring and I kept seeing pop-ups. The setup was pretty straightforward, even for my Android, which sometimes gives me trouble with these things. I snagged it during a 30% off sale, so that felt like a good deal. It's been running fine, nothing weird or slowing down my computer. My husband even said his work laptop could use something similar. I guess it just does its job without bothering me much, which is all I really want from security software.

Good security, easy download

I bought Antivirus for Windows. Download was fast. Installation was simple enough. It runs well in the background. My computer feels secure now. Paid 35 for a year.

I'm looking to renew my G Data subscription, is there usually a discount for existing customers or do I just pay full price again?

A Anna W. 1 month ago
They often have renewal discounts. I usually get an email about it closer to my expiry date. Sometimes it's like 20-30% off.

Check your email or log into your account, they usually push those offers. You might get a better deal if you upgrade too.

Just wondering if G Data actually protects against ransomware. Getting kinda paranoid with all the news about it lately.

N Neil Y. 2 months ago
Yep, they explicitly mention anti-ransomware features. It's built into their main products.

Mine has caught a few suspicious files before they could do anything. So far, so good. Seems to be working.

Hey, thinking about getting G Data Total Security. Does anyone know if it's really worth paying extra compared to just the regular antivirus?

E Emma Osei 2 months ago
I got Total Security last year and honestly, the extra features like the password manager and parental controls are pretty handy if you use them. For just basic virus protection, the Antivirus is probably fine though.

Yeah, if you're big into managing passwords securely or have kids, the upgrade makes sense. Otherwise, if you just need core protection, you might not use all of it.

Hey, I'm a student. Do they have a student discount for their products?

S Sophie Vargas 2 months ago
I remember seeing something about a student discount, yeah. You might need to check their site or contact support to see how to get it though.

I think they do, or at least they used to. I'd look for a specific student portal or a link on their main page for it.

How do you actually use a coupon code for G Data? I can't find where to enter it.

R Rosa L. 2 months ago
It's in the shopping cart, usually right before you finalize the purchase. There should be a field for a 'Gutscheincode' or 'Coupon Code'.

Just keep an eye out for a box during checkout in the cart. Sometimes discounts apply automatically if you click a special link too.

Anyone know if G Data is better than Bitdefender? Trying to decide which one to go with.

C Cleo 2 months ago
Both are solid. G Data is pretty good with ransomware protection, I've seen it mentioned in reviews. Bitdefender is also top-tier.

I used Bitdefender before switching to G Data a couple years back. Performance-wise, they feel similar. G Data's BankGuard is a nice touch if you do a lot of online banking.

How's the G Data Antivirus for Mac? Is it as good as the Windows version or should I look somewhere else for my Macbook?

W Wendy 2 months ago
I've been using G Data for Mac for about six months. Seems to work fine, no issues or slowdowns. Scans run smoothly.

It's decent. Not as many features as the Windows version, but it covers the basics well. For Mac, I find most AVs are pretty similar anyway.

Does G Data still do that free trial without needing a credit card? I want to test it out before I commit.

M Mark Ito 2 months ago
Yeah, they definitely do. I downloaded the trial a few months ago and didn't have to put in any card details.

M Megan 2 months ago
Pretty sure they do a 30-day free trial. Just go to their site and you should see the option.
